Essential Containers for Water Treatment

Water treatment is a chemical-intensive process. From primary disinfection with sodium hypochlorite to pH adjustment with caustic soda, treatment plants consume hundreds of gallons of liquid chemicals daily. IBC totes have become the standard delivery and storage container for most water treatment chemicals because they are compatible with the aggressive chemistries involved, easy to handle with standard equipment, and designed for safe chemical containment. Every tote we supply for water treatment applications is inspected for chemical compatibility and structural integrity.

Chemical Compatible

HDPE inner bottles resist the corrosive chemicals used in water treatment, including sodium hypochlorite, ferric chloride, sulfuric acid, and polymer solutions. No metal contact with stored chemicals.

Metering System Ready

The standard 2-inch NPT bottom valve connects directly to chemical metering pumps and feed systems. Gravity feed from the tote eliminates the need for separate transfer pumps at many treatment plants.

Secondary Containment

IBC totes fit standard secondary containment pallets required by EPA and Oklahoma DEQ regulations. The enclosed design minimizes vapor release and reduces chemical exposure risk for plant operators.

Water Treatment Chemicals We Support

Our IBC totes are used to store and dispense the full range of chemicals found in municipal and industrial water treatment operations. Here are the most common applications.

Sodium Hypochlorite

Primary disinfection in municipal drinking water systems. 12.5% trade strength solution is the most common concentration stored in IBC totes at treatment plants across Oklahoma.

Ferric Chloride

Coagulant used in both drinking water and wastewater treatment to remove suspended solids, phosphorus, and heavy metals. Highly corrosive solution that requires chemical-grade HDPE containment.

Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic)

pH adjustment and alkalinity control. Used in both potable water treatment and industrial wastewater neutralization. Stored at 25% or 50% concentration in IBC totes.

Polymer Flocculants

Cationic and anionic polymer solutions used in clarification and sludge dewatering. Viscous solutions that benefit from the wide-mouth fill opening and large-bore valve of IBC totes.

Sulfuric Acid

pH reduction in alkaline water supplies. Used in both municipal treatment and industrial cooling tower water management. Requires HDPE containers rated for acid service.

Sodium Bisulfite

Dechlorination agent used to remove residual chlorine from treated effluent before discharge. Critical for meeting NPDES permit requirements at wastewater treatment facilities.

Supporting Oklahoma Water Systems

Oklahoma has over 1,600 public water systems serving communities from the largest metro areas to the smallest rural districts. Many of these systems rely on IBC totes as their primary chemical storage method because the 275-gallon capacity matches their daily consumption rates without requiring large fixed tank installations. We supply new and reconditioned IBC totes to treatment plants across the state, and our delivery service reaches even the most remote rural water districts.

For plants that rotate between chemical suppliers or change treatment processes, our IBC cleaning service decontaminates totes between uses so they can safely store a different chemical without risk of cross-contamination or adverse chemical reactions.
